A Phoneless Day Experience

Leaving the phone behind is like letting go of your favorite ice cream and going without ice cream for a day or days. The feeling can also be like a baby weaning off from the mother's breast and getting used to either the pacifier or milk powder. This is also liken to the withdrawal symptoms of addict faces.

Letting go of good cheese is one of many lessons from the book 'Who Moved My Cheese?' The good thing about letting go is the opportunity to go look for better cheese. Without letting go, we can't grab hold of new cheese when it comes.

What are the losses in a Phoneless day? Disconnected from many things ie information, knowledge, loss in virtual or maybe material rewards, unable to say good bye to good friends, wasn't able to snap up a good deal, weren't the first to wish someone Happy Birthday, missed out in many advertisement goodies etc etc.

What are the gains in a Phoneless day? Connected with friends in a nice face to face talk; get to finally see how many wrinkles on my parents' face; catch a glimpse of beautiful sun set or forest green trees and seasonal leaves and cute garden animals; have my eyes a good break from the zapping bright screens; not over working my brains to find my way out of the virtual world; enjoy a really good relaxing sleep; smell a real cup of capocinno or latte coffee; gave my ears a break from the jamming music but hearing the majestic chirping of natures birds plus of course the daily horns of cars and trucks; last but not last, the breathing in of a gasp of fresh air and enjoying it without rushing it.

Tell me - which is better or maybe it is simply a decision to work on it in a balanced or moderate way.
