What Happens If Pain Is Removed?

If there is no pain, then it is right to think there is no sorrow. But in reality in daily life the present of pain is a precious gift in disguise that needs to be consciously appreciated every moment of life. When there is no pain, a match fire will char the skin; a nail clipper snips deep and blood just flows; a penknife over cuts and the pinky bleeds; the surgeon has no way to find out if the person is alive only through pulse or heartbeat; the rolling over of a boy in an accident becomes a numb to common pedestrians; the headache would not know when to take paracetamol; the laughter will continue until we die laughing; then there wouldn't be a need for relief; there wouldn't be a need for a Savior.

The leper feels no pain and so losing a part of the body does not hurt much but hurts mentally I supposed. The seeking for healing from leprosy in one sense is to seek to have the gift of pain. When the finger gets pricked, it responds with a reflex and that reflex has a combination of so many (thousands) signals within the body system.

How marvelous are God's work of grace in everyone of us! How unfathomable are His wisdom and His ways!

This we only talk about the body system. How about the system of the parts of the world, universe, space and beyond.

Blows my mind (reminds me of a scene in Indiana Jones' where the lady wanted to have more knowledge from the aliens and it was so much that it really exceeds the capacity of our minds)

No pain, no gain!

But one day with Jesus in heavenly dwellings, yes there will be no more pain, no more tears and no more sorrows. For now, we need pain (not referring to self inflicted ones of course) to remind us to seek the Lord faithfully and to draw others into His kingdom.

Right At This Moment part 2 - A Very Present Help

The ants trickle into the dark crevices under buildings and soil. The cells die and new ones are birthed in every human being. The flow of lava below the surfaces of the earth and at the top of active volcanoes. The birth of a new born to welcoming parents. The sorrows of many who witness the sick and departing. The building up of tears in the eyes and trickling down our faces whether for joys, sorrows or burdens and overwhelming feelings. The splatter of raindrops on the surfaces of soil, leaves and roofs and faces. The life it brings to plants and farmers. The drivers changing gear as they drive off, oblivious of the combustion going on at the engine, generating power to move to our destinations. The gases emitted mix with the environment causes other things unknown to us but not to Him who knows all things, rules all things and controls all things.

These are just some of the many activities under heaven and if we note down everyone of them, it will take forever. We have yet to talk about other planets and beyond.

In everything, give thanks to You my awesome and loving and healing and merciful God and savior Jesus Christ.

Amen.

Having goals give..
Target
Direction

Less Goal
- no direction, no action, rot away

Goals come with how...

Decide. Decision.

Unclothe the old ways
Thought life
Clothe yourself with Christ

The community in the blood is very responsive and cooperative

What is forgive one another -
Let go

When we do not forgive, we hold on to the person, controlling and condemning and cursing

Book Review - What Good Is God? By Philip Yancey

Like sharing a cake, if you want to experience a spiritual piece of China, US, India, Middle East, Asia, South Africa, UK, and meet with prostitutes and alcoholics, read this book and travel with Philip Yancey.

In search of a faith that matters, Philip Yancey wrote this book which consists of ten places he travelled to, to seek out answers to this question of "What good is God?" in the variety of circumstance the people were in and also to minister to speak to them God's word.

Grace was one of the key word evident in many of the places Philip witnessed first hand - of forgiveness at the Virginia Tech Campus shoot out, the racist events that occurred in South Africa and the former prostitutes reaching out those bound in the trade.

Just like Jesus turning around Saul to Paul, God was also evident in changing lives and raising up His people like C.S. Lewis, the underground church in China and the watering church in Afghanistan where the harvest eventually bore fruit through a visiting musical team.

Philip also brought out the needs of the church in his visits as the church bears witness as the body of Christ in a lost world i.e. those seeking help due to addiction, Christians working in foreign countries and a man who started a church health center reaching out to the poor.

Notable phrases:
"We are mere adjectives serving the great Noun of truth. " C.S. Lewis

"I would like to embrace him so he may know my forgiveness is real." - a woman who lost his son and husband

"God chooses to make himself known primarily through ordinary people like us." - Philip Yancey

"God was already present in the prison. I just had to make him visible." - a sister who reaches out to inmates

The Bible verses below stand out to me as I read the book.
2 Corinthians 2:15,16 -
15 For we are the aroma of Christ to God among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing,
16 to one a fragrance from death to death, to the other a fragrance from life to life. Who is sufficient for these things?
2 Corinthians 2:15-16

Read the book and travel with Philip Yancey.

What Do You See?

Matthew 2

The wise men saw the star and followed.
The wise men saw the Savior and worshiped.

King Herod saw that he was cheated and he slaughtered.

So what did you see?

The Monkey and the Girl

Once there was a monkey whose hand was stuck in the bottle grabbing onto a nut. Unwilling to let it go, the monkey was caught by hunters as he was weighed down by the bottle.

A man once came to ask of a girl to let go of her precious. She was unwilling at first, but later under the man's persistency, the girl relented (let it go). The man then took from behind his back his precious and gave the girl.

With Jesus On The Boat

Everyday we can be bombarded by every nuances of demands from every factions of life like home, work and daily life, that the feeling of overwhelmness swarms me and us thoroughly, making us helpless, useless and dumbfounded. Basically - immobilized! Stalled!

What or who can ignite or enthuse the juice and joy of life back to its original path?

Who is that sleeping at the stern of the boat?

What is that in your hand?

What's That In Your Hand?

Take Up Your Cross Daily And Follow Me

What is that in your hand?
With it, you shall see the wonders of God

The stick in your hand
The fishes and the bread loaves
The cross on your shoulders
The Bible on your hand
The verse in your heart

But the reverse holds true too

The life in you, God gave
Use it for God or for evil

Love Covers Over A Multitude

That love or kindness covers over a multitude of sins. It was drawn from a Chinese proverb 杀一除百 in other words, teach one a good lesson and the other hundred catches it. The reverse is also true. But in God's world, kindness is everywhere. Embrace it and give thanks to our merciful God.

Book Review - #struggles - Following Jesus in a Selfie-Centred World byCraig Groeschel

Struggles are the sure thing to experience in this part of heaven as we make a decisive step to follow Jesus our greatest treasure and pleasure. Indeed, all who desire to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted (2 Timothy 3:12 ESV). If we do not experience struggles, then we need to evaluate if we are truly following Jesus or something else instead.

Here is a book that helps identify the place and pokes of technologies and gadgets which can subtly derail us from us following Jesus. The identification includes our natural inclinations toward comparisons, control, desensitization, impurity, criticism, idolatry, distraction etc etc. Pastor Craig leads us back through the Scriptures to focus on areas namely contentment, intimacy, authenticity, compassion, integrity, encouragement, worship and rest.

To keep technology in its place, I think it is good practice to fast from gadgets for a few days where the book concludes where Pastor Craig favors a retreat in the mountains, away from the city where there is no connectivity. The few days of 'fasting' really assesses how much we are hooked or addicted to our gadgets and what we are missing out to the reality of God in His beautiful creation in terms of sound and sight.

The book also contains appendices listing out the Ten Commandments for Using Social Media to Grow Your Faith and Share God's Love and Safeguards to take note.

I strongly recommend for all to read, especially parents where we ourselves are poor examples to our kids.

He must become greater;
I must become less.
(John 3:30)

The Multitude of Ants & Food and God's Greatness & Faithfulness

The journey today took on a greater view of God's greatness and faithfulness.

Look at the fields as I journey and I saw huge greens and remembered the movie 'Antz'. And 'Ant Bully'. I imagined and started counting the number of ants in that field and then stretched the counting to the next until I included the entire earth.

How many ants will there be? And i imagined how they worked hard each and as a community towards survival and livelihood. To think we worked hard already, the ants do even more.

I only talked about ants. Yet to mention others. This caused me to ponder on God's greatness in the numbers and next on His great faithfulness to provide for the ants and now how much more His people made in His image.

Where Are You God?

The word came from Acts where Jesus questioned Paul why he persecuted Him. Paul persecuted the church; directly persecuted Jesus also. Therefore where is the visible Jesus and God whom I seek? He is found in the body of Christ - the little Christ here and there. God is visible in the active faith of those who trust and obey Him.

God Uses All Things

In His good pleasure, presence and power, God uses all things to gain glory for Himself. All things being created by Him and for Him may enjoy and be what they were intended to be. Just like a square cube must match with a square hole and not a round one, we were made fitting for Him. Not for things in this world.

His Presence

To the uttermost ends of the gentle earth,
from the brightest east to the setting west,
from the deepest depths to the immeasurable heavens,
from the darkest night to the brilliant morn -
His shelter and banner be over you.

Jesus and one boy's gifts

Mark 10:14
Let the children come to me; do not hinder them

The welcoming of children by Jesus is one of the things he demonstrates God's love through. He places his hand on their heads to bless them. And it is mostly likely so in the process of it, a boy with two fish and five loaves of bread offered his meal to Jesus who gave thanks and fed five thousand (5000) and that does not include the women and children.

Indeed Jesus demonstrates His great love and power through Him feeding us not only spiritual food but also our physical needs. It is just unthinkable how Jesus does it - multiplying the fish and the bread.

Therefore, in Jesus, He can turn our little gifts of our lives to be the greatest blessings to many.

Glory to God!

Simplify

If you hadn't, then it is time to sit back and think through if you had come to a realization and already lived half a lifetime storing up and the word is 'accumulate' many things and then realize the next half of our lifetime to start to 'decumulate'.

Therefore keep less, give more, laugh more.

Reminders

Do we doubt that God's words can come through the noisy words of our colleagues or the words of a nagging mother? They serve as words of repetitive reminders and of authority.

Thank you dear God that You are present with me and interested and helping out in the minute details of my life and all man and all life. Thank God for the remindful words of all mothers and teachers.

Thanksgiving for AC2015 Nov

I thank God for the following:
- for providing us good weather and protection in answer to our fervent prayers; we carried out the activities as much we can
- for the key trainer who led the kids with the equipment orientation; who led the song Watermelon, Banana, Cherry and Rambutan.
- for all the teachers and helpers and volunteers and child minders and food services provider and ice cream man.
- for Eric Liddell whose life brought great example to one and all - devotion to God and to people.
- for the children who came for the adventure. They have given us open eyes and hearts to:
> God's love for them and us with some who received Jesus into their hearts over the camp
> see the children's condition (basically lost with Christ), the harvest plentiful but the workers insufficient, the condition of our hearts.
- for the camp committee who put all the program together, and learnt ten fold of lessons thereafter in executing the nitty gritty details into concrete actions.
- last but not least - uncle Bill for helping me out with my P3 class when we were waiting for lunch. Despite his voice due to his recent operation, he drew the attention of the kids to participate in the game he organized. Glad to watch and learn from elders in action.

Who Is Lord?

Reading Genesis 22:1-14, we catch a glimpse on the heart of man. Abraham and Isaac and God.

Reading Hebrews 11:17-19, we can have an idea on the faith attitude of Abraham.

We can learn that God will provide...
The funds
The wisdom
The life
The way
The pain to signal life
The children
The retirement
The education fund

Work, work, work! Is there joy?

When we behold the greatest treasure, can it satisfy? If it doesn't, then it isn't the greatest yet.

Key path to find greatest treasure -
know who God is
know God through the Bible
know God through the World
know God through following

God takes the initiatives. See the many invitations by God...
Test me in this....
Come and see....
Taste and see...
Believe and receiving...

Luke 9:23
Jesus said...take up his cross daily and follow me

Read and reflect on this verse Matthew 13:44

Read Genesis 18
God hears and responses to our prayers
